Accelerated Performance for Graphical Applications with Intel Iris Pro Graphics solutions.

IMSCAD were asked by Intel to set up two servers in their London Data Centre, one containing a cartridge based processor solution with their GPU and a NVIDIA GRID based server both using Citrix XenDesktop.

The methodology behind this was to ask real customers to access both systems remotely and test some of their own data sets on all of the industry leading Applications. They could access AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Solidworks and Siemens NX.

Taking into account network latency and the varied model sizes tested the results were very positive for the Intel solution.

Each Application requires different CPU, GPU and storage resources but as Intel is a hardware based solution and you don’t need a hypervisor, so this removes complexity and provides a level of performance and usability better than a virtual server.

The integration of the GPU on the CPU removes any internal latency and the processing of both happens so much quicker than moving from the CPU through the PCi bus to a graphics card.

IMSCAD have delivered over 500 virtual GPU based solutions globally and were really impressed with the increased performance the Intel solutions offered.

In conclusion 90% of volunteer testers agreed that they received a greater experience using the M710p Cartridges containing the Broadwell CPU with integrated Iris Pro Graphics.
